Hogs Mixed at Midday

Lean hog futures are trading with mixed action on Tuesday, with Nearby October down 32 cents.  The national average base hog price was reported at $77.82 on Tuesday morning. The CME Lean Hog Index was $85.74 on September 6, down 50 cents from the day prior.

USDA’s FOB plant pork cutout value was 17 cents lower in the Tuesday AM report at $95.55 per cwt. The rib and loin were the primals reported higher, with the rest of the primals reported lower. USDA estimated FI hog slaughter at 486,000 head. That is well above the previous non-holiday week and 20,481 head larger than the same week last year.

Oct 24 Hogs  closed at $78.475, down $0.325,

Dec 24 Hogs  closed at $70.975, down $0.125

Feb 25 Hogs  closed at $75.000, up $0.075,
